The Boarding Pack

Terms of service

The rules for working with us.

The short version

Who we are

The Boarding Pack is the trading name of Oliver Hornby, a sole trader. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean The Boarding Pack. These terms are the contract between you and us when you buy a licence pack.

You can email us at hello@theboardingpack.co.uk.

Please read these terms before you pay. If anything is unclear, ask us first.

What you’re buying

A draft application pack for a dog home boarding or dog day care licence in England, written from the answers you give in our questionnaire. We deliver it as a Word document by email. We check it before we send it, and we use your council’s published checklist where we can get one.

We use software to help write the draft, including an AI assistant. We remove your name, email address and council before the AI sees your answers, as our privacy notice explains. We review every pack before it goes to you.

What we don’t do

How it works

  1. You complete the questionnaire. It’s free, and filling it in doesn’t commit you to anything.
  2. We review your answers and aim to reply within 24 hours. If they look complete, we send you a payment link. If something’s missing, we tell you what we need.
  3. You pay through the link. We start work once we’ve received your payment.
  4. We may message you with questions or ask for details we can’t collect in the questionnaire, such as your address and phone number.
  5. We deliver the pack by email. We aim to deliver within 5 working days of payment. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays in England.

The 5 working days is an aim, not a guarantee. If we’ll need longer, for example because we’re waiting on answers from you, we’ll tell you.

Price and payment

The price is £125, the total shown at checkout. There are no extra charges for the pack itself.

You pay by card through Stripe. We never see your card details. Payment is taken in full, before we write your pack.

What we need from you

You’re responsible for your application, for what you submit to your council, and for keeping your home, dogs and records in line with your licence conditions.

Corrections

After we deliver your pack, you can ask for one round of corrections within 14 days. That covers fixing mistakes or leaving-outs in how we’ve written up the answers you gave us, and tidying wording.

It doesn’t cover new or changed facts, for example you move house, change the number of dogs or rebuild a room. It also doesn’t cover a new application or a pack for a different council. For those we’ll tell you what it would cost before we start.

Cancelling and refunds

We can’t produce a pack from your answersWe refund you in full.
Your council refuses, delays or changes its requirementsNo refund. The council’s decision isn’t something we control, and we don’t offer refunds tied to the outcome.

Starting work straight away

To cancel, email us at hello@theboardingpack.co.uk within 14 days of paying. You don’t need to give a reason.

When you pay, you’ll be asked to confirm that you want us to start work immediately, and that you understand you lose your right to cancel once we’ve fully delivered the pack. That’s why we can start straight away without waiting 14 days.

We’ll return any refund to the payment method you used, within 14 days of agreeing it.

If something’s wrong with the pack

A pack is faulty if it doesn’t match the answers you gave us, or if we’ve made a mistake in writing them up. If you think yours is, email us within 14 days of delivery. Tell us what’s wrong and which of your answers it doesn’t match.

We’ll fix it first, using your round of corrections. If we can’t put it right, we’ll refund you, in full or in part depending on what’s wrong. We’ll decide this fairly, based on your answers and the pack.

A pack isn’t faulty because you’ve changed your answers, because you’d have liked a different style, or because your council wants something different or refuses your application. Those are covered in the sections above.

Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.

Limits on what we’re responsible for

We’ll do the work with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, we’re not responsible for:

If we’re at fault, our total responsibility for any loss is limited to the price you paid, except where the law doesn’t allow us to limit it. Nothing here limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law says we can’t limit.

Our work and your information

The pack is yours to use for your own application and your own business. Please don’t sell it, share it with other applicants or publish it. It’s written from your answers, so it wouldn’t suit anyone else anyway.

We keep the right to reuse our general methods, checklists and wording that don’t contain your information.

We handle your information as set out in our privacy notice. In short, we delete your questionnaire answers within 30 days of sending your pack.

Changes, complaints and the law

We may update these terms. The version in force when you pay is the one that applies to your order. The date at the top shows when they last changed.

If you’re unhappy with anything, email us and we’ll reply within 5 working days and try to put it right.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute.
